Electric scooter enthusiasts in India have several new brands to choose from, apart from the industry’s mainstays like Ola Electric, Hero MotoCorp, Ather, and so on. Ampere has also emerged as a popular electric scooter maker in the country, with the company’s Magnus EX launching in the country last year. The manufacturer has now released the Primus electric scooter, featuring several useful features and a competitive price tag.

Customers can pre-book the latest Ampere e-scooter by paying a fee of Rs 499, either through your nearest retail outlet or the company’s online page. You will also find features we usually see on other e-scooters, including an LCD screen and a dedicated reverse mode to get you out of tight parking spaces. Let’s take a closer look at the rest of the specifications of the Aphere Primus.

Ampere Primus e-scooter specifications and availability

As we’ve already discussed, the Primus comes equipped with an LCD instrument panel and dedicated riding modes such as Eco, Power, and City. There are a total of four colours to choose from, including Buck Black, Royal Orange, Havelock Blue, and Himalayan White. Each variant features matte panels and a two-tone design to make it stand out among rival e-scooters in the market.

The Ampere Primus

Ampere says the Primus enjoys a top speed of 77 kmph, thanks to a 4 kW motor mounted in the mid-section of the scooter. It can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in 4.2 seconds. Meanwhile, there’s a 3 kWh battery back which enables the Primus to run for up to 107 km on a full charge when the Power mode is enabled.

While the company says the range will be even better in Eco mode, Ampere didn’t specify the precise figures. Recharging the battery takes only five hours, though, even with a basic 5A power outlet. Customers will also have access to the Ampere app, which can send you alerts about your e-scooter. With pre-bookings already going up, Ampere says it will make the Primus available next month. So there isn’t much waiting to do.

Ampere Primus e-scooter price

Customers who have reserved the Ampere Primus by paying Rs 499 can get the e-scooter by paying Rs 1,10,000 (ex-showroom) across the country. This price tag and the suite of features make the Ampere Primus an incredibly attractive option in the crowded Indian e-scooter segment.
