The Countryman range of SUVs by Mini is getting an all-electric model in the next year, the company said. CEO Stefanie Wurst offered some details on the 2024 Countryman Electric to Autocar, including info on the design elements, as well as the powertrain it would feature.

In terms of design changes, the Countryman Electric will feature a more rugged look overall, aided by a squarer front. The automaker’s new headlights, which feature on the Cooper Electric, will make it to the Countryman Electric, Wurst told the publication.

2024 Mini Countryman Electric specifications

Customers in select countries (excluding India) can get Countryman Electric in two versions — Countryman E and Countryman SE. The former is the entry-level version, sporting a 188 hp single-motor unit, whereas the Countryman SE can deliver 268 hp, thanks to the dual-motor all-wheel-drive arrangement.

The Countryman E and Countryman SE will run on a 54 kWh and 64 kWh battery pack, respectively. While specific range information is unavailable, Autocar claims that the top-end Countryman SE EV could run for up to 437 km (272 miles) on a full charge.

Pricing information wasn’t shared by Wurst, though we expect the manufacturer to share more info on that front by the end of the year. Mini’s announcement emphasises a widespread embrace of EVs, especially by luxury automakers, in the past couple of years.
