Ather Energy has announced that they will be upgrading their Ather Grids with an 80% cut-off, offering optimal charging for users, reducing wait time for others, and ensuring fair usage for all. The company CEO shared an official tweet with the caption, “Once we disconnect the solenoid, charging cannot continue for safety reasons. You risk arcing and other non savoury things otherwise.”

Solenoids play a crucial role in the charging process of electric scooters. They are electromechanical devices that control the flow of electricity to the battery, converting electrical energy into mechanical energy and generating a magnetic field when an electric current passes through them.

To avoid the risk of arcing and other safety hazards, it is crucial to avoid disconnecting the solenoid while the battery is charging. Allowing the solenoid to complete its cycle before disconnecting is essential in preventing any potential damage or harm resulting from an abrupt interruption in electrical energy flow.

Charging a solenoid involves drawing electrical Energy and creating a magnetic field. Disconnecting the solenoid during the charging process can be hazardous as it may result in a sudden interruption of the electrical energy flow, causing an electric arc. Hence, it is important to avoid disconnecting the solenoid while it is actively charging to prevent potential safety hazards.

An electric arc occurs when there is a discharge in current when there is a gap in the circuit. The arch can create heat, a flash of light, and an explosion as well. It is of utmost importance to avoid such phenomena by allowing the solenoid to finish its cycle before disconnecting it.
