General Motors, the parent company of Chevrolet, Cadillac, Hummer, GMC, Opel and many other brands, is looking forward to using ChatGPT on its vehicles as part of its broader collaboration with Microsoft. This report comes from Reuters, which quotes a company executive as the source.

GM Vice President of Software Scott Miller said in an interview last week, “ChatGPT is going to be in everything.”

How GM Plans To Use ChatGPT In Its Vehicles?

Semafor reported this first, and the report said GM plans to use a voice-activated chatbot and will use Microsoft’s Azure cloud service.

It has been reported that Scott Miller has confirmed some of the details, and the company is also developing an AI assistant that could push things beyond simple voice commands.

For example, if the car gets a flat tire, the driver can ask the vehicle what to do and how to change the tires, receive step-by-step instructions on what to do, and even play a video showing what to do on the car infotainment system.

Similarly, if a diagnostic light pops up on the dashboard, the driver could ask what it is, if he should pull over, or if it is okay to drive home with it. It might also be possible to make an appointment with the service centre.

The AI assistant to be used on General Motors vehicles would be based on Azure OpenAI service and would not be accessing ChatGPT outright on a browser. They would build an AI assistant based on GPT, which would be used on cars only.
