Airtel 5G Plus Internet Speed

Airtel will be working on a network widely accepted throughout the world. The company has promised 20-30 times faster connectivity than currently offered. Airtel has delivered a download speed of 1000 Mbps at the IMC during the trials in Gurugram and Mumbai. In Hyderabad, the network has achieved a peak speed of 3 Gbps.

The company had conducted the nation’s first 5G trial in the 700 MHz partnership with Nokia, which fetched 1Gbps internet speed with a low latency of 10 milliseconds. We also tested the speed for Airtel 5G in Delhi and were able to get a download speed of 160 MBPS. You can check our results here

5G network speeds test: Airtel Vs Jio

City Jio Airtel
Delhi 598.58 Mbps 197.98 Mbps
Mumbai 515.38 Mbps 271.07 Mbps
Kolkata 482.02 Mbps 33.83 Mbps
Varanasi 485.22 Mbps 516.57 Mbps

Ookla, a mobile and network testing organization based in the United States, discovered that 5G download speeds in India reached 500 Mbps, with peak rates exceeding 800 Mbps.

“This data suggests that operators are still recalibrating their networks. As these networks enter the commercial stage, the speeds are projected to become more steady,” the agency stated.

Airtel 5G Trials

Airtel was the first company to successfully test a commercial 5G demo in India in Kolkata. It also conducted its rural 5G trials in the outskirts of Delhi/NCR with the help of a spectrum allocated by the Dept. of telecom. The company’s trial network is already up and across various urban centres such as Cyber Hub in Gurugram, Phoenix Mall in Lower Parel, Mumbai, etc.

During the rural trials, the company has achieved a speed of 200 Mbps throughput on a 3GPP-compliant 5G FWA device at a distance of 10KM from the site. The company has also conducted a 5G trial for gaming to showcase its cloud gaming capabilities. It was done in Manesar, and the company showcased a speed above 1Gbps with low latency of 10 milliseconds. You may explore more about the 5G trials here

Cities that already have Airtel 5G Plus

Airtel 5G Plus is already available in 265 cities, including-Delhi, Nagpur, Bangalore, Siliguri, Mumbai, Chennai, Varanasi, Hyderabad, Panipat, Gurugram, Guwahati, Patna, Lucknow, Shimla, Imphal, Ahmedabad, Vizag, Pune, Indore and more.

Airtel 5G spectrum

The company’s strategy toward spectrum acquisition has been intelligent and consistent over the years. It has recently acquired 9867.8 MHZ in 900 MHz, 800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz frequencies. This has enabled the company to have the most extensive low and mid-band frequency collection.

The company will be deploying its 5G network using these spectrums. The telco has also conducted 5G trials using the 1800MHz band in Hyderabad. The company has also claimed that it can upgrade its 4G networks to 5G to deliver a much faster nationwide rollout of the service. With one of the broadest broadband networks in the country, the company is headed toward massive success in the 5G arena. Check out Airtel’s official website for more.

Price of Airtel 5G Plus Plans

As of now, the Airtel 5G tariffs have not been revealed. However, according to the company CTO, the tariff charges for 5G globally are at par with the 4G tariffs. Thus, it can be expected that the 5G tariff will be pretty similar to the existing 4G tariffs. The company reiterated their stance while talking about the device schedule as it mentioned that the 5G plans will be affordable.  Currently, customers that have a 5G compatible smartphone can also enjoy 5G services on their current Airtel data plans.
