Karizma Series Gets a New Lease of Life as Hero MotoCorp Plans Liquid-Cooled 210cc Engine

Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is reportedly reviving its iconic Karizma series with a brand new liquid-cooled 210cc engine. The original Karizma R and Karizma ZMR were some of the most popular bikes in their segment and even rivalled the Pulsar 220. However, facelifted models designed by Erik Buell Racing did not perform well in the market and led to a decline in the brand’s popularity. Despite launching the Xtreme 200S as a replacement, it failed to capture the magic of the Karizma series.

Now, Hero MotoCorp is set to launch a new platform for the upcoming Karizma series, which will include a liquid-cooled engine coupled with a six-speed gearbox. While specific details about the engine are yet to be released, it is expected to deliver 25 bhp of power and 30 Nm of torque. The bike will also feature a fully-faired design inspired by the OG Karizma series and will be Hero’s first production bike to include elements like USD forks, oil cooling, and a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of pricing, Hero MotoCorp is likely to stay true to Karizma’s reputation for offering value for money, with a price point estimated to be around Rs 1.5 lakh. While the company may skimp on some fancy hardware, like slipper clutches and ride-by-wire, it is expected to offer disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, as well as LED lighting and Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation. Other features like a side stand sensor with engine cut-off are also likely to make it to production.

The 2024 Karizma series is expected to be launched around the festive season, and fans of the brand are eagerly anticipating its comeback. Hero MotoCorp may also consider installing the same engine in its Xpulse 200 model, creating a potent off-roading machine. With the new engine, the Xpulse 200 could deliver an impressive performance on trails and off-road terrains.
