Highlights
  • Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and its Pro sibling in August this year
  • There have also been reports of the rotating bezel making a comeback with the Galaxy Watch 6 series
  • Samsung is likely to unveil the new wearables alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Z Flip 5

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 5 and its Pro sibling in August last year. With just a few months left till the two reach their one-year anniversary, rumours about the successors are already beginning to arrive. According to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung may be launching the Galaxy Watch 6 series with a larger screen.

A rumour in March stated that the rotating bezel, which was previously a prominent feature on Samsung’s wearables, could also be making a comeback. Ice Universe claims that the vanilla version of this year’s Samsung wearable, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, will feature a larger 1.47-inch screen coupled with a higher resolution to accommodate the increase in display real estate.

Some basic math reveals that Samsung may have to bump the resolution for the new wearables to 470 x 470, up from the Galaxy Watch 5 series’ 450 x 450 screen resolution. Meanwhile, based on previous leaks of the Samsung wearables, the 44 and 46mm versions of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic are likely to pack a 425 mAh battery.

There’s no info on the battery of the Galaxy Watch 6 Pro, but it’s certainly going to be bigger. Of course, a lot could change between now and Samsung’s announcement in August, so it is recommended to take this with a grain of salt.

Galaxy Watch 6 series could debut alongside Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5

While not much is known about the Galaxy Watch 6 apart from a couple of leaks, we know a fair bit about Samsung’s foldable plans for August 2023, involving the successors of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4. The former was in the news just this week, revealing a potentially lighter body and a thickness of just 13.4mm.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 also made its way to a Geekbench listing late last month, giving us a decent idea of what to expect. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to feature a larger cover display, a feature that will also be available on the upcoming Vivo X Flip.
