Smartphone manufacturers have been in a race to provide the fastest charging technology for their devices. Recently, Redmi (Xiaomi) said it’s working on 300W charging technology for a future device. As per a new rumour, fellow Chinese brand OPPO could be looking to match Xiaomi with a 300W fast charging solution of its own.
The rumour originates from DigitalChatStation, which routinely uses Weibo to share information on yet-to-be-launched phones. According to the source, OPPO’s new battery technology could theoretically enable 300W SUPERVOOC fast charging paired with a 4,600mAh battery. This is all that the tipster could share about the new fast-charging technology, with no word on when it would be ready for an OPPO smartphone.

While companies like Xiaomi and OPPO are fighting it out for bragging rights in the fast charging department, we’re still some distance away from witnessing 300W charging speeds on a commercial smartphone. As 91Mobiles notes, Redmi’s under-development solution managed to fully recharge a 4,100mAh battery in less than five minutes while touching 0-50% in only 2 minutes and 11 seconds.
Which phone has the fastest charging battery?
As of early 2023, the title is held by the Realme GT3 with its 240W charging tech. Unfortunately, this phone is unavailable in India. But customers in the country can settle for the Infinix Zero Ultra, which comes with the 180W Thunder Charge tech, juicing up the battery from zero to 100% in 12 minutes.
