Highlights
  • Previous leaks have revealed tentative dates for the first few betas and early access campaigns of Activision’s upcoming title
  • This new leak is contrary to some reports suggesting the COD 2023 announcement would come at the rumoured Sony PlayStation Showcase this month
  • Rumours have also suggested that the title could be a successor to Modern Warfare 2

Some gloomy clouds have hung over the fate of the 2023 instalment of the massively popular Call of Duty franchise. A new leak from Insider Gaming is now providing an announcement date for the arrival of Call of Duty 2023, which is the title’s unofficial name for the time being since Activision hasn’t provided any confirmation on this front.

While Insider Gaming admits to not having the full details, the publication says COD 2023 will be announced through an in-game event, similar to the unveiling of COD: Vanguard that occurred within the original COD: Warzone.

Chances of COD 2023 being revealed at the PlayStation Showcase are slim

Unfortunately, an August 1 unveiling date also pours cold water over any hopes of Activision revealing the new title at this month’s rumoured Sony PlayStation Showcase. Since we’re still a couple of months away from the aforementioned announcement date, there’s not a lot of info on the name. But recent reporting points to this new title picking up where Modern Warfare 2 left off.

Back in February, Insider Gaming revealed the alpha, beta, and stable release dates for Call of Duty 2023, with only the unveiling date missing. But with that part of the mystery also being solved now, we hope to learn more about Activision’s next big Call of Duty release in the coming weeks.

PS4 and PS5 users brave enough to try the title’s first beta will be able to do so between October 6 and October 10. Meanwhile, the second beta weekend release will also reach the two consoles, in addition to PC, Xbox One/Xbox Series X and Series S. Gamers on these platforms should have access to COD: 2023’s early access campaigns on November 2, followed by the final release on November 10.
