  • Google Contacts will notify your contact’s birthdays now
  • Much awaited birthday notification feature is live now on Google Contacts
  • Here’s everything you need to know

Google Contacts is rolling out birthday notifications and encouraging users to add birthday information to their contacts.

The feature was spotted first by 9to5Google, and we were able to confirm the feature as well. Take a look at the screenshots:

As you can see, if the birthday notifications are rolled out for your device, you’ll see the option to “Add birthdays” card under the For your section. Clicking on it will open the Add Birthdays page, which lets you add birthdays quickly. You can select the contacts you want to add birthdays for and set the notification of birthdays on or off from here.

You can also add birthdays to your contacts by using the contact page, going to the 3 dot menu with a new “Add birthday notification” option.

This feature is currently enabled with Google Contacts version 4.7.26.x, and the stable version is already available as an update on Play Store. You can update the Google Contacts app from Play Store if you don’t see the option on your phone.

Meanwhile, the list of contacts where the birthday notifications can be added doesn’t seem to be available outside of the “Add birthdays” card. So closing that card might render you not able to access that page again in an easier manner. We hope Google will add a simpler option to access this option in Google Contacts.
