Blood Sugar Assessment Feature
The Huawei Watch 4 series introduces a pioneering blood sugar risk assessment feature, making it the first smartwatch in the industry to support such advanced capabilities. Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer unit, demonstrated the feature in a video posted on Weibo. The smartwatch detects high blood sugar levels and displays a message alerting the wearer to the potential risks associated with excessive intake of high-sugar, high-oil, and high-fat diets.
Huawei is making this feature available to a select group of people who can take part in a collaborative research study run by Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and China Healthcare International Exchange Promotion Association in order to further increase the technology’s efficacy. Participants are required to wear the Huawei Watch for at least seven consecutive days, during which the wearable device will provide hyperglycemia alerts on their wrists. Moreover, the smartwatch will offer personalized advice based on the user’s calculated risk levels.
