The Kinetic Luna, an iconic moped known for its widespread popularity, is set to make a comeback. While the name Luna has become synonymous with mopeds even today, the upcoming Luna from Kinetic will sport a new avatar as an electric scooter, departing from its previous 50cc engine heritage.

Kinetic Green’s CEO and Founder, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, recently took to social media to unveil the name of their electric venture: ‘e Luna.’ This name pays homage to the iconic Luna, which made its debut half a century ago and left an indelible mark on the two-wheeler industry. With the revival of the Luna name, Kinetic Green aims to capture the attention and garner a positive response from Indian electric vehicle buyers.

Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions, a sister brand of Kinetic Group, is set to launch the Electric Luna, also known as e Luna. The company has already started production of chassis and other sub-assemblies for the electric scooter. Initial production estimates indicate a monthly output of around 5,000 units, with the potential for increased production in the future. The Electric Luna holds promise as an exciting addition to the electric vehicle market.

Kinetic is taking dedicated measures to ensure the production of its iconic e Luna electric scooter. A separate assembly line exclusively for e Luna has been established, equipped with up to 30 new welding machines. Additionally, special paint booths and fabrication shops have been set up specifically for e Luna. Manufacturing of the e Luna will take place in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, under the supervision of Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions. These efforts signify the company’s commitment to delivering a high-quality and distinct electric scooter to its customers.

Given the historical strength of Luna in terms of affordability, it is highly likely that e Luna will follow a similar path. Speculations suggest that Kinetic will target the last-mile delivery sector, catering to B2B and B2C models. Interestingly, this is also where the Honda Benly e is expected to enter the market. It seems that both Kinetic with e Luna and Honda with Benly e are eyeing the growing opportunities in the last mile delivery segment, aiming to provide efficient and cost-effective solutions for businesses and consumers alike.
