The love the South Korean Boy Band BTS receives from the ARMY worldwide is unprecedented. While the ARMY loves the seven-member band unconditionally, BTS reciprocates their affection in equal measure. Jin (Kim Seok-jin), Suga (Min Yoon-gi/Agust D), J-Hope (Jung Ho-seok), RM (Kim Nam-joon), Jimin (Park Ji-min), V (Kim Tae-hyung), and Jungkook (Jeon Jung-kook), form the seven-member BTS (Bangtan Boys) bamd.

BTS debuted in 2013 with their single album 2 Cool 4 Skool under Big Hit Entertainment.  Popular singles of this album include ‘We Are Bulletproof Pt.2’ and ‘No More Dream’. As of January 2022, over 430,000 copies of this album had been sold.  Every year, BTS Festa takes place around the anniversary, and fans get a lot of new content. However, the boys have decided to give fans a big surprise this year, and there is a lot of new content being shared, and celebrations are underway worldwide. It all started with the BigHit dropping the Festa timeline on May 30. Based on the emoticons, fans could guess what is in store for them for the next few days.

Seoul turns Purple

Purple is the colour that is associated with the BTS and its fandom. BTS’ member V coined the term ‘Borahae’ or ‘I Purple You’ in 2016 to denote their endless and selfless love for the fans. In 2022, Google and YouTube also rolled out a unique feature that enabled fans to see Purple hearts and balloons when they search for BTS on these platforms. By clicking on these balloons, fans can hear the members say, “I Purple You”.

This year, for the tenth celebration, all major landmarks in Seoul have been lit in purple colour. These include Seoul City Hall Main Building, Namsan Seoul Tower, Sejong Center (Gwanghwamun Square), Lotte World Tower, Banpo Bridge, Seoul Outdoor Library in Gwanghwamun (Gwanghwamun Lounge), World Cup Bridge and Yanghwa Bridge.
