Games with Potential Harm: This category encompasses games featuring violent or graphic content that promotes violence or poses a detrimental impact on players’ mental and emotional well-being.
Addictive Games: Games characterized by excessive addiction potential that can lead to financial losses, compromised physical health, and other associated risks.
These new restrictions demonstrate the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges posed by certain types of games, aiming to ensure the well-being and protection of gamers in India.
In light of the Gaming Conversion Racket scandal, an important step has been taken. The scandal involves Shahnawaz Khan and Abdul Rehman, who are at the center of the investigation. Abdul Rehman, a maulvi from a mosque in Ghaziabad, collaborated with Shahnawaz Khan in their alleged activities. Their modus operandi entailed approaching children in online gaming lobbies and coercing them into adopting a particular religious faith.
Will BGMI Survive?
India witnessed the recent comeback of BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), bringing excitement to its fans. However, concerns have emerged due to statements made by the Union Minister, raising the possibility of the game being banned once again. Nevertheless, BGMI managed to regain approval by adhering to all necessary regulations and implementing measures such as playtime restrictions and limitations on online spending for its users. The game has been granted a three-month trial period, during which its future will be evaluated. It remains uncertain whether BGMI will face another ban or if it will be allowed to continue being accessible to players.
