During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York, Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed his intention to invest in India “as soon as humanly possible”. This meeting was a part of Modi’s state visit to the United States. Source had revealed to Reuters that Musk would discuss plans to establish a manufacturing facility in India with PM Modi.
“I have full confidence that Tesla will establish its presence in India at the earliest opportunity,” Musk stated in response to reporters’ inquiries regarding Tesla’s investment plans. He further revealed his intention to visit the country in the upcoming year personally.

Elon Musk To Enter Indian Market With Tesla Soon
Musk added, “I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister for his support, and hopefully, we will be able to make an announcement in the near future.” According to video footage shared on Twitter by Indian broadcaster ANI, Musk mentioned that he is “a fan” of PM Modi and acknowledged that the prime minister had visited a Tesla factory in California a few years ago.

Musk highlighted India’s robust potential to achieve a sustainable energy future, encompassing solar power, stationary battery packs, and electric vehicles. As the CEO of SpaceX, he expressed the company’s aspirations to introduce the Starlink satellite Internet service in India as well.
In the previous month, Tesla executives visited India and engaged in discussions with Indian bureaucrats and ministers regarding the establishment of a manufacturing facility for cars and batteries in the country.
Musk had mentioned that Tesla would likely select a location for a new factory by the end of this year and expressed interest in India as a potential site for the plant.
Given the ongoing tensions between Washington and Beijing, American companies are seeking to decrease their dependence on China as a manufacturing base. Tesla had temporarily postponed its entry into the Indian market last year due to the high import tax structures in place.
