New leak reveals new ‘Custom Button’ on the iPhone 15 Pro Max

As one of the most awaited smartphones of the year, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max has made it to the news on numerous occasions. We’ve learned so far that this particular model would exclusively include a periscope lens, while the iPhone 15 Pro would miss out on it.

Now, we’re coming across newly leaked images, supposedly detailing the protective cover/case meant for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. These pictures were revealed by leakster Majin Bu, though it’s impossible to confirm their authenticity at this early stage. Nevertheless, these images appear to echo some of what we’ve heard in the leaks, especially a new “Custom Button.”

iPhone 15 could also use an Action Button like the Apple Watch Ultra

This Custom Button would reportedly replace the existing mute switch on the iPhone, with the image of the protective case showing a wider and rounded cutout in its place. It is rumoured that this custom key would allow users to set a particular action on the iPhone, including the ability to operate when the iPhone is switched off.

We heard back in April about Apple’s intentions to implement an Action Button on the iPhone 15 series, similar to what we see on the Apple Watch Ultra. We’ve also come across reports about Apple considering using haptic buttons to replace the existing mute button and volume keys. The report went on to say that Apple would leverage two new haptic engines for the mute switch and volume rocker, with the specific purpose of mimicking a physical key press.

Meanwhile, the images above also reveal a larger rear camera cutout. This aligns well with mentions of the iPhone 15 Pro Max gaining a more advanced rear camera system, as we touched on above.
