One significant improvement in these new Samsung foldables is the introduction of the waterdrop-style hinge, which significantly reduces the display crease on the foldable screen. Additionally, when in the folded state, both devices’ two halves lie so close to each other that they give the appearance of a seamless, gapless design.

The other major upgrade is seen on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which now sports one of the largest cover displays on a flip phone. The cover display is now more versatile than before as it supports a camera app and widgets like calendar, weather, call history, battery status, and Samsung Wallet. Both phones come preloaded with One UI 5.1.1-based Android 13. Both devices are confirmed to receive four years of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
