Bollywood’s King Khan has a busy year ahead. After a successful theatrical and digital release of Pathan, SRK is now set for the next two releases – Jawan and Dunki. Fans have taken to social media to express the same, and many are waiting for the release dates, be it in theatres or OTT. Below are the details:

Dunki OTT Platform and Release Date

Information about the OTT rights and platform of Dunki was shared by the makers during JioCinema’s slate announcement. However, the OTT release date of Dunki has not been revealed yet. The movie is set to release on December 22, 2023, across theatres in India.

Dunki Cast

Helmed by director Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Gauri Khan, Dunki features a talented ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, Satish Shah, Jeremy Wheeler, Judge Abbas Raza, Attila Árpa, and Chris Kaye. The script for the film is penned by Kanika Dhillon, Rajkumar Hirani, and Abhijat Joshi. More details about the crew are yet to be shared by the makers.

Dunki Meaning and Story

Presented as a comedy-drama, the storyline of Dunki follows an ordinary individual embarking on a voyage to the United States, resulting in a cross-border comedy where the majority of the movie unfolds against the backdrop of American locations. Makers of the film have not revealed a lot about Dunki’s plot. However, Shah Rukh Khan, in an interview, shared the meaning of Dunki. Outlook quoted his interview statement, which read, “In English, my film would be called Donkey, it is Donkey. But the way a part of the country pronounces donkey in India, it is ‘dunki’. The Punjabis say it (donkey) like dunki… How much to tell you about the story? It is a story of people who want to come back home… when you finally get the calling.”

Dunki Behind the Scenes

In a recent interview, Shah Rukh Khan’s co-star from Jawan, Jhalli, fondly characterized SRK as the most unassuming, compassionate, and amusing individual in the surroundings. In an interview with Free Press Journal, she recalled how she once casually mentioned hunger and he promptly arrange an impromptu spread. Taapsee Pannu too has mentioned SRK’s thoughtful gestures extended to warm hellos and comforting hugs.
