Hidimbha was met with average reviews from critics. According to 123Telugu, the film is an action thriller with a few thrills. Though the backdrop is interesting, it has been marred by a dull narration in the first half. The second hour has some engaging moments, making it an okay watch. GreatAndhra holds a similar view. They feel its highlights are the main twist, the background music, and the cinematography. And the drawbacks include the sluggish first half, inconsistency in narration, too many cinematic liberties, gore, and over-the-top scenes. On IMDb, Hidimbha has a rating of 9.2/10, as voted by 2,282 users.
