Samsung working on new Galaxy Buds, could be the ‘FE’ model

Samsung‘s annual tradition of introducing new sets of wireless earbuds alongside the launch of its foldable smartphones took an unexpected turn this year. While the company has consistently unveiled a fresh pair of truly wireless earbuds in tandem with new foldable smartphone releases, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 debuts did not accompany any Buds.
The last generation of earbuds was launched in 2022, and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro coincided with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Despite rumours around the Galaxy Buds 3, no release materialized, leaving a gap in the product release timeline.
New Galaxy Buds Fan Edition?
Now Dutch outlet Galaxy Club has shed some light on the potential development of new Samsung Galaxy Buds. According to their report, the upcoming earbuds will be assigned the model number SM-R400N. While one might assume that these are the long-awaited Galaxy Buds 3, a logical assumption considering the nearly two-year gap since the launch of the Galaxy Buds 2, this does not appear to be true.
Interestingly, these buds don’t conform to the naming conventions of either the ‘Pro’ or ‘Standard’ models, as they differ from the ‘SM-R5xxx’ model numbering scheme. This deviation gives rise to a new theory: that these earbuds might be an intermediary offering akin to the Galaxy Buds Live. Galaxy Club speculates that this could potentially be labelled a ‘Fan Edition’ model, a designation that could coincide with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.
We will keep on updating this story as and when new details emerge.
