Samsung rumoured to be working on a cheaper foldable smartphone

Samsung recently unveiled its latest foldable devices, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, in the global markets. It’s not even been a month from the launch and we are already seeing leaks circulating about the potential introduction of more budget-friendly foldables in Samsung’s lineup, possibly falling under the ‘FE’ series.
Samsung ready to launch FE branded foldables
According to reports, Samsung is in the works to release a ‘Galaxy Z FE’ model, envisioned as a more watered-down version of either the Flip or Fold models. This move is expected to provide consumers with a more economical option within Samsung’s foldable range. The comes through tipster Revegnus, who shared these details over at X.com. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time such rumours have surfaced. The existence of a ‘Galaxy Z Fold Lite’ was also mentioned back in 2020, though this was before the global pandemic brought things to a halt.
However, prospective buyers might need to wait for a while since the launch of the Galaxy Z FE devices is projected to take place only after the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 next year. Consequently, the wait for the Galaxy Z FE could extend up to a year or two.
Naturally, to accommodate the FE branding and maintain affordability, Samsung could tone down specifications, features, and hardware components. Nonetheless, the company is likely to retain a flagship-like user experience, drawing from the past FE series models.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S23 FE is also making headlines as it’s anticipated to hit the global markets soon. This marks the return of the FE series after a brief hiatus. Additionally, the phone has been spotted on the BIS certification site, hinting at its imminent arrival in India.
