Jio, a prominent player in the telecommunications sector, has recently taken a significant step by discontinuing its widely-used Rs 119 prepaid recharge plan. This move holds substantial implications for customers who depended on this plan to keep their Jio mobile numbers active and operational. 


Rs 119 Prepaid Recharge Plan 

The Rs 119 prepaid recharge plan offered by Jio was favoured by many due to its attractive features. This plan encompassed unlimited voice calling, a daily data allocation of 1.5GB, and the ability to send 100 SMS per day. However, what set it apart was its relatively short validity period of 14 days. This combination of benefits made the plan a popular choice among customers seeking affordability and essential connectivity.

Jio’s decision to discontinue the Rs 119 prepaid recharge plan has raised eyebrows in the telecommunications arena. This move aligns with Jio’s strategic objective to elevate the ‘Average Revenue Per User (ARPU)’ on a broader scale. By phasing out this plan, Jio aims to encourage customers to transition towards more lucrative offerings, thus contributing to an overall increase in the average revenue generated per user.

The New Cheapest Prepaid Pack: Rs 149 Plan

With the discontinuation of the Rs 119 plan, Jio has introduced a new most affordable prepaid option, the Rs 149 plan. This plan offers a validity period of 20 days, marking a departure from the shorter validity period of the discontinued Rs 119 plan. Customers now have the opportunity to explore this new option and evaluate its suitability based on their communication needs and preferences.

In contrast, Airtel’s Rs 155 prepaid plan features an extended validity period of 24 days, inclusive of unlimited voice calling and a cumulative data allowance of 1GB. The associated messaging quota is capped at 300 SMS for the entire validity duration. Additional incentives involve a complimentary HelloTunes subscription and access to Wynk Music.

Considering the presented options, it becomes evident that despite the shorter validity duration, Jio’s Rs 149 plan offers substantial value for money by furnishing subscribers with a daily data allotment of 1GB – a proposition that outperforms Airtel’s 1GB data distribution spread over 24 days.
