Apple is ditching the Gold option with iPhone 15 Pro models: Leak

As we countdown to the arrival of the Apple iPhone 15 series in mid-September, new information on the devices continues to emerge. There has been a fair bit of reporting in the past about Apple’s colour choice for the new smartphone lineup, and a new 9to5Mac exclusive is giving us more insight into the matter.

Per the publication, Apple will ditch the Gold option from the iPhone 15 Pro and the 15 Pro Max as it transitions to titanium-made models for its premium iPhones this year. With Gold going out of rotation, the company would reportedly introduce a new Grey version of the iPhone 15 Pro duo that can more effectively showcase the natural elements of the new titanium finish.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max could also be lighter

Thanks to the use of a titanium body in its making, the two iPhone 15 Pro models will be lighter than last year’s iPhone 14 Pro duo. It’s still unclear how much lighter these new variants would be compared to their predecessors, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.

Furthermore, 9to5Mac’s reporting suggests that the Dark Red version previously rumoured for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max would not debut this year. Instead, Apple will offer a dark blue shade this year, replacing Deep Purple, which debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro series last year.

Entry-level iPhone 15 models, on the other hand, will supposedly be available in ​​Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Yellow colourways. The iPhone 15 could also pick up a couple of new colours by Q1 2024 (typically in March) to boost sales of the iPhone 15. Apple has previously followed this strategy with the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12.

Fortunately, we don’t have to wait long to get confirmation on the colours of the upcoming iPhone 15 series and their hardware attributes. The manufacturer is expected to unveil the flagships on September 12, while invites for the launch event could go out imminently.
