Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy
To recall, brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, iQOO, OnePlus, and Nubia announced their Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip-powered phones in December 2022. However, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, which debuted in February 2023, featured the 3.36GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. It appears Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series will be equipped with the faster version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while other flagship phones will have the regular version of the chip.
Shown above are screengrabs of the Geekbench listings of the Nubia Red Magic 9 (model number NX769J) and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus (SM-S926U). The listings suggest that the Nubia phone could be equipped with the regular version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the chip that powers the Galaxy S24+ (or series) will have the so-called Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.
To be specific, the Galaxy S24+ features four CPU clusters arranged in a 2+2+3+1 configuration instead of the 2+5+1 arrangement seen on the Nubia phone. To be specific, the Nubia phone’s chip comprises two CPU cores working at 2.27GHz, five CPU cores clocking at 2.96GHz, and one prime CPU core ticking at 3.19GHz. On the other, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy comprises two CPU cores operating at 2.27GHz, two CPU cores clocking at 2.96GHz, three CPU cores ticking at 3.15GHz, and one prime CPU core working at 3.30GHz.
Reports have claimed that the Galaxy S24 series will be made available in two CPU variants. While some markets are expected to receive the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, other regions may get the Exynos 2400 chip edition.
