Google Pixel 8 series European pricing leak, hinting at a pricier lineup

Google is gearing up for a major announcement slated for October 4, where they plan to launch the much-anticipated Pixel 8 series alongside the Pixel Watch 2. The upcoming Google flagships have been subject to numerous leaks, and fresh insights have emerged thanks to a recent report. This new report claims to provide details about the pricing and colour options of the Pixel 8 series.

Pixel 8 series to cost more

As per information from TheTechOutlook, it appears that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will experience a noticeable price increase, particularly in the European market. According to the publication, the Pixel 8 128GB option is expected to retail for €874.25 (Rs 77,900 or $942 approx.). This price includes a 23% Value-added Tax (VAT). Excluding taxes, the base cost would be approximately €710.77 (Rs 58,700 or $765 approx.). In contrast, the Pixel 7 was priced at $599 or €650 last year.

Similarly, Pixel 8, with 256GB of storage, will reportedly cost €949.30, including 23% VAT (approximately Rs 84,600 or $1,023). On the other hand, the Pixel 8 Pro is rumoured to come with a starting price of €1,235 for the 128GB variant (equivalent to around Rs 1,08,900 or $1,331), €1,309 for the 256GB version (approximately Rs 1,16,700 or $1,411), and €1,461 for the 512GB model (roughly Rs 1,30,300 or $1,575). These prices also encompass the 23% VAT. This represents a significant price hike compared to the Pixel 7 Pro, which had a starting price of $899 or €900.

In light of recent inflation and rising component costs, previous leaks have suggested that the Pixel 8 series could witness a price increase ranging from $50 to $100. This could potentially lead to a starting price range of $649 to $699. So, this report reiterates previous leaks, but the pricing seems way off. It is possible that these prices could just be placeholders for retailer databases, so take this news with a pinch of salt.

Pixel 8 series colours

As for the Pixel 8 series colours, the report states that the regular Pixel 8 is set to be released in a range of colours, including Hazel, Obsidian, Rose, and Mint.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to be available in four color options, namely Bay, Obsidian, Porcelain, and Mint.
