Apple is preparing for the global release of its iPhone 15 series on September 12th. In line with its tradition of regular updates, the iPhone 15 lineup is anticipated to bring a fresh set of features, with a particular focus on the Pro models.
According to insights from a researcher, the iPhone 15 Pro models might come with a higher price tag, possibly $100 and $200 more expensive than their iPhone 14 counterparts.
iPhone 15 Pro price hike
Regarding the price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro series, senior analyst Luke Lin from DigiTimes Research suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro could see a $100 price bump compared to its predecessor. For context, the starting price of the iPhone 14 Pro was $999 (or Rs 1,29,990) for the base 128GB storage model. Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could launch at $1,299, which is $200 more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, as outlined in the report.
The report outlines two primary reasons behind the expected higher pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro series. Firstly, both Pro models are expected to feature a titanium chassis, known for its superior strength-to-weight ratio and better corrosion resistance compared to stainless steel. Apple has prior experience with using titanium in select Apple Watch models.
The second reason relates to significant improvements in camera hardware for the Pro iPhones this season. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumored to incorporate a Periscope Zoom lens, potentially delivering 5x to 6x optical zoom capability. Additionally, the handset is expected to feature updated primary and ultrawide camera sensors.
Beyond the price and camera enhancements, the upcoming iPhones are also rumored to introduce several new features, including an all-new Action Button, a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4 support, and a more powerful A17 Bionic chipset.
