Nokia G42 5G could be launched tomorrow in India. A premature listing of the unannounced smartphone has emerged on Amazon. For those who don’t know, Nokia recently confirmed that it will announce a new 5G phone on September 6th, 2023. However, the brand has not confirmed anything about the name of the device. The inadvertent listing of G42 on Amazon is a good hint that it will be unveiled in the country tomorrow.

The G42 was announced for the global market in June this year, and it appears to be heading to India. Here is a look at the specifications that will be available on the device.

At present, the Nokia G42 5G is listed as “currently unavailable” on Amazon. It showcases the purple variant of the device and mentions some of its key specifications. In February, Nokia unveiled the Snapdragon 695-powered Nokia X30 5G, its first 5G-enabled smartphone for India, with a whopping price of Rs 48,999. Since the Nokia G42 is equipped with a less powerful chipset, it appears that it will arrive at an affordable price in the country.

In Europe, the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage edition of the Nokia G53 5G is priced at €249 (~Rs 22,250). Hopefully, it will be priced under Rs 20,000 in India. One of the major attractions of the G42 is that it is a user-repairable device. In Europe, the company has partnered with iFixit to provide users with step-by-step repair guidelines and affordable replacement parts so that they can fix common issues like a cracked screen, bent charging ports, a dead battery, and so on, on their own. It is unclear whether the so-called QuickFix repairability feature will be available in India.

The Nokia G42 5G has a 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel that offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,612 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, up to 450 nits of brightness, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Snapdragon 480 Plus chip powers the device with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging.

The G42 has an 8-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (macro) + 2-megapixel (depth) triple camera unit. The G42 offers other features, such as 128GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and Android 13. The device comes in two shades, such as purple and grey.
