Some Apple iPhone 15 Pro models are arriving with dents and scratches: Reports

Highlights
  • The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are currently facing shipping delays of over a month
  • Apple hasn’t acknowledged these reports of manufacturing defects just yet
  • Some users have reported scratches, air bubbles, and uneven colouring of the sides of the iPhone 15 Pro models

While some customers have already started receiving their Apple iPhone 15 orders, the excitement has been short-lived for a select few, per emerging reports from multiple sources. One user on Reddit claims they received the iPhone 15 Pro with cracks on the back glass (pictured below), while another source on Twitter suggests there’s uneven colouring on the sides of the iPhone 15 Pro models.

It’s worth noting that a bulk of these complaints emanate from iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max users, though Phone Arena claims that some iPhone 15 and 15 Plus users are also facing similar issues.

It’s not just new customers who have complaints about these defective iPhone 15 Pro units. At least one Apple reseller says they noticed bubbles on the glass measuring 5cm x 4cm, while some units are reportedly found to have scratches out of the box.

Complaints of uneven glass placement and shaky front glass are also emerging, though we haven’t seen evidence of this just yet. Apple is likely taking cognizance of these issues and could be compelled to issue a recall for the affected units.

Could this be the reason behind iPhone 15 delays?

Some lucky customers have already managed to pick up their iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, either via delivery or by waiting in line for a ridiculous amount of time at Apple’s brick-and-mortar outlets in Mumbai and Delhi, respectively.

But if you’re trying to pick up an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro today, the wait times are close to a month, if not more, based on your location. While supply chain issues are being cited as the reason behind these delays, these production defects could also be a factor. Nothing is confirmed at this point, and we’ll wait for Apple to issue a statement on this long list of complaints before jumping to conclusions.

As a precaution, if you have received the iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro model with any of these manufacturing defects, get in touch with Apple immediately to get things sorted.
