  • David Fincher’s The Killer Premieres at the Venice Film Festival to Rave Early Reviews
  • Michael Fassbender Returns after a hiatus

The Killer, directed by David Fincher recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and the early reviews are looking all pretty positive. Starring Michael Fassbender, who’s back in action after a four-year break, the movie seems to be a straightforward character study of a hitman, with some good action scenes thrown in. Plus, critics say it’s got a decent dose of humor, making it an interesting watch.

David Fincher has a tendency to keep his movie titles refreshingly straightforward. Think Fight Club – it was all about a club where people fought it out (or is it?), and Gone Girl was centered on a woman’s mysterious disappearance. So, it comes as no surprise that his latest offering, The Killer, continues this tradition.

Hot off the presses in theaters, this thriller starring Michael Fassbender will make its way to Netflix on November 10th. Earning a solid 88% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems like we are all in for a cinematic treat. Fincher’s swift decision to bring his new film to Netflix suggests a forgiving spirit, even if we, the audience, might still hold a grudge for the cancellation of Mindhunter. We still need a third season, come on.

To date, David Fincher’s highest-rated film as a director on Rotten Tomatoes is The Social Network, a biopic about Mark Zuckerberg, certified fresh at 96%. The only other Fincher-helmed film above the current score of The Killer is the true crime drama Zodiac, which has a certified fresh score of 90%. The Killer is also just slightly above Gone Girl and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which respectively have scores of 87% and 86%. Those are followed by Mank and Se7en, which both are sitting at 83%.
