Producer Todd Garner said in April 2023 that the filming would start in June 2023 in Australia. Production as scheduled commenced in June, but because of the Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strike, it was put on hold in mid-July. The latest developments indicate Mortal Kombat 2 is back to the filming stage. Actor Karl Urban, essaying the character of Johnny Cage in the film, shared a click from the sets with his co-actors. His caption reads, “We’re back, baby! MK 2 Let’s go !! Love this cast CJ #mortalkombat.”
