Samsung is expected to announce its next-generation flagship phones in the first quarter of 2024. Recent leaks have claimed that the Galaxy S24, the Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be unveiled in January 2024, which is slightly earlier than the Galaxy S23 lineup that debuted on February 1st, 2023. A new report by the South Korean publication The Elec, has shed light on details like the launch date, venue, and availability of the Galaxy S24 series.
As per the latest report, the Galaxy S24 series is slated to be officially announced on January 17, 2024. This leak aligns with a previous one that made a similar claim. Additionally, the new report provides further details, mentioning that the company intends to host the Galaxy Unpacked event for the S24 lineup in San Jose, US.
The report states that Samsung considered other locations, including San Francisco (US) and Seoul (South Korea), before ultimately choosing San Jose, for the launch of the S24 series. This decision is said to be because of Samsung’s collaboration with Google and the competitive dynamics with Apple, both of which have their headquarters situated in San Jose. The said event could also be used by Samsung to announce other products, such as the Galaxy AI and the Galaxy Ring.
Pre-orders of the Galaxy S24 lineup are expected to begin immediately after the official launch, which will run between January 19th to January 25th. The shipments of the pre-ordered units will be carried out between January 26th and January 30th. The report further states that the open sale of the S24 series will begin on January 30th.
The South Korean tech giant has reportedly decided to launch the Galaxy S24 series two weeks earlier than the Galaxy S23 lineup in a bid to boost the revenue for the first quarter of 2024. This strategic shift suggests that the company is establishing a pattern where its sales peak in both the first and third quarters annually, primarily driven by the releases of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series phones.
According to reports, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus will be equipped with the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets. On the other hand, the S24 Ultra will only arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The series will run on the latest One UI 6-based Android 14 and will support satellite connectivity. Shown above are leaked shots of the alleged dummy units of the S24 series, which show that its design will be quite similar to the S23 lineup.
Unlike predecessor models, the stylus-totting S24 Ultra is expected to feature a flat display instead of a curved-edge screen. In addition, its rear camera setup is expected to include a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The S24 Ultra is also expected to feature a durable titanium frame.
