All of Us Strangers is an upcoming film which springs the essence of dreamlike nuances without giving anything away. Directed by Andrew Haigh, All of Us Strangers recently released its trailer containing romance, intrigue, and enough ghosts (yes, you read that right).

The movie had earlier premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023. It will further receive a limited release in theatres on December 22, 2023.

All of Us Strangers – What is the plot?

The film stars Andrew Scott essaying the role of the withdrawn Adam. Paul Mescal plays Harry who essays the role of his love interest. Even though not much is known about the film, except the trailer and the photos, the secrecy has generated widespread interest regarding the plot of the film. 

The official plot synopsis of the movie reads as, 

From director Andrew Haigh. One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.

All of Us Strangers is directed and written by Andrew Haigh. He’s done this double duty before on movies like Lean on Pete, 45 Years, and Weekend. The film is produced by Graham Broadbent, Peter Czernin, and Sarah Harvey. Broadbent and Czernin have worked together on films like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and The Banshees of Inisherin. Harvey, who also worked on The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, has experience with films like Ticket To Paradise and What’s Love Got To Do With It?

The music for the film is done by Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch, known for scoring the 2022 Bill Nighy film Living. On the other hand, the movie is loosely adapted from the novel Strangers by Taichi Yamada. However, the amount of material taken from the book remains undisclosed.
