‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ is getting a reboot as a TV series for Amazon Prime Video. It’s a remake of the 2005 action-comedy movie starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. This time it’s Donald Glover and Maya Erskine play the ‘fake’ married couple as they juggle between their missions as spies, and maintain their social life among their peers. Another mission that they have is to pretend that they’re married, and show that the romance is still alive.

It’s going to be interesting to see the multi-faceted actor, comedian, singer, rapper, writer, director and producer Donald Glover take up an action movie role. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was originally supposed to play the role of Mrs. Smith but she exited the series following creative differences. Maya Erskine was later cast to play this role. Her known works include Pen15, Plus One, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Super Pets (voice), and Blue Eye Samurai (voice).

Glover and Erskine play the role of as two spies who end up getting a job where they have to act as a married couple. But in return they get “a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travels and a dream brownstone in Manhattan.” They are now Mr. & Mrs. John and Jane Smith, who have to complete a high risk mission every week while maintaing their new relationship milestone at the same time. And as expected, the two end up catching feelings for each other, and this is where their real and fake lives get even more complicated.

Joining Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in the series is Sarah Paulson, Paul Dano, Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell, Úrsula Corberó, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, Parker Posey, and Wagner Moura.

Glover is also the writer and executive producer for the series making it his second title with the same roles after Atlanta. Joining Glover as co-creator of the series is Francesca Sloane whose previous works include Atlanta and Fargo.
