However, it can be expected sometime in late 2024 or early 2025. Official confirmation of the same is still pending. The sixth instalment will consist of ten episodes.

Deadline broke the news that Virgin River will return for a sixth season in May 2023. The announcement was made about four months before the opening episode of season 5. Actor Colin Lawrence, who portrays the character of John “Preacher” Middleton in the series, enthusiastically shared on his Instagram account on May 18th that Virgin River Season 6 has been officially greenlit! On the same day, Annette O’Toole, known for her role as Hope McCrea in the show, shared an update about Season 6 of the series. She shared a picture of a fully bloomed rose and captioned it, “Some roses to celebrate the good news: #VirginRiver season 5 will air in the fall, and we’re going to film season 6 as soon as the strike is settled. #WGAStrong!”

Following the signing a contract between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) in late September, the writers’ room for the show was officially back in action on October 9. Pictures of Virgin River Season 6’s writers have been shared on Virgin River Series’ official Instagram page. And the images showcase their excitement. Alexandra Breckenridge also expressed her joy, commenting on the post. Her reply read, “ YOU made it!!!!!” The show’s writing crew includes Thomas Ian Griffith, Tesia Walker, Becky Hartman Edwards, and others.

What Exciting Storylines Can We Expect in Virgin River Season 6?

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith discussed the cliffhanger between Mel and her new birth father, Everett Reid. He hinted that there’s much more to explore with this relationship and Mel’s friendship with Vernon “Doc” Mullins. He also said that the vital news Everett had to share with Mel would have a personal effect on her. He shared, “What we’re exploring in Season 6 is a sort of paternal love triangle,” Smith says. “Doc has always been a surrogate father to Mel, so we’ll see what happens when her actual biological father comes into her life and how that affects their relationship.”

Furthermore, during Patrick Sean Smith’s interview with  Deadline regarding Everett’s integration into the community of Virgin River and whether Everett has ties to other prominent characters, he revealed, “It’s something that we’re exploring. I liked the idea that that person might be on the fringe, but there’s still an awareness in a small town, especially of the person on the fringe and the questions and the mystery that surround who he is. We’re also imagining that if he was in Virgin River with Sarah when Mel was conceived, he has at least a 30-plus-year history with the town. Jack’s been there less time, so in Season 6, there’s a lot of mystery in what we’re revealing as far as what his relationship is with Virgin River.”
