Back to Black – Storyline and what can be expected?

The distributor has given a brief insight into what we can expect from Back to Black. The movie tells the story of Amy Winehouse’s early rise to fame and the making of her album, Back to Black. It is told from Amy’s point of view, and it gives an honest look at the woman behind the album and the relationship that inspired it.

The distributor says that the movie is a unique glimpse into the artist’s life and a tribute to one of the most iconic albums of all time.  Fifty Shades of Grey filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson directs the movie from a script by Matt Greenhalgh. The two previously collaborated on 2009’s Nowhere Boy, a John Lennon biopic starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the young Beatles.

The production for the movie Back to Black started in January and was supported by the Amy Winehouse estate, Universal Music Group, and Sony Music Publishing. The film is expected to include some of Winehouse’s most popular songs such as Back to Black, Rehab, You Know I’m No Good, and her soulful rendition of the Zutons’ Valerie, which she recorded with Mark Ronson. The production was a collaboration between Studiocanal and Monumental Pictures.

The Legend, The Icon

Amy Winehouse’s distinctive blend of soul, R&B, and pop has solidified her reputation as one of the greatest singers of the 21st century. Despite only having two studio albums under her belt, she made an unforgettable impact on the music industry. Sadly, she struggled with the challenges of substance abuse and mental illness, which tragically led to her untimely death from alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011. Despite these struggles, she was able to achieve remarkable success in her career with over 30 million records sold worldwide and five Grammy awards won.
