According to reports, the Taylor Tomlinson-hosted After Midnight is replacing The Late Late Show’s time slot and is based on Comedy Central’s @midnight. CBS will broadcast it after the Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

An announcement will be made earlier regarding the comics, actors, and other celebrities who will be on the panel at After Midnight. They will discuss stories from the internet in the format of a game show. In its tagline, the show is described as “the smartest show on television about the dumbest things on the internet.”

After Midnight Release Date 

The Taylor Tomlinson-hosted show will debut on Jan 16, technically Jan 17, since it will start at 12:37 a.m. ET/PT at the end of the Jan. 16 broadcast day.

About The Late Night Show 

In After Midnight’s time slot, previously The Late Late Show, which ran for 28 years and had four hosts since 1995. The first host was Tom Snyder, who served until 1999. He was followed by Craig Killborn, who joined after leaving The Daily Show. From September to December 2004, the show had several guest hosts, as a search was ongoing for the next host. There were four top contenders: Craig Ferguson, D.L. Hughley, Damien Fahey, and Michael Ian Black. Since 2004, Craig Ferguson has been hosting the show until he stepped down in 2014.

The show underwent another transition from January to March 2015, during which Drew Carey returned as a guest host, as he did during the first transition. Similar to the first transition, several celebrities made guest appearances as hosts, including Judd Apatow, Will Arnett, Whitney Cummings, and Lauren Graham. Ultimately, James Corden was selected as the new permanent host and introduced his famous Carpool Karaoke segment, which he continued until he departed from the show in 2023. During the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, CBS aired reruns and unaired episodes of Byron Allen’s Comics Unleashed in the same time slot.

Who is Taylor Tomlinson?

Taylor Elyse Tomlinson is an American writer, stand-up comedian, and television host. She has released two Netflix stand-up specials titled Quarter-Life Crisis and Look At You. During an episode of The Late Show, Colbert announced that the stand-up comedian would be the new host of the show. She was reportedly chosen after a round of auditions. As per reports, Colbert informed her that she got the job during a Zoom call a day before the public announcement.
