Back in October 2017, the musical premiered at the National Theatre, Washington, D.C. and opened on Broadway in April 2018 at the August Wilson Theatre. As a result of the outbreak of coronavirus, the musical showcased its final performance on Broadway on March 11, 2020.

Mean Girls Release Date – Theatrical and OTT

The Mean Girls musical movie will be released in US cinemas on January 12, 2024, with certain international territories, including France and Australia, getting earlier releases on January 10 and January 11 respectively. Although most countries are getting the movie at the same time, some are receiving it at a later date. For those in the UK or Ireland, Mean Girls won’t be available until January 17. In Germany, the movie won’t open until January 25.

You can currently watch the original Mean Girls without any issues. However, streaming or renting/buying the new iteration in digital format is not yet available. The 2024 movie Mean Girls does not have a streaming release date yet, but we can expect it to be released online after a theatrical window similar to that of recent Paramount releases.

Mean Girls Storyline – What’s the plot? 

The 2024 version of the 2004 movie will follow the same storyline. The previous film was a comedy-drama, but this one will be a musical comedy. Tina Fey, the talented writer who penned the original, is the writer for this one as well.

The story is about Cady Heron, who becomes a member of The Plastics, a group ruled by Regina George and her followers Gretchen and Karen. However, Cady makes a mistake by falling in love with Aaron Samuels, Regina’s ex-boyfriend. This creates chaos, and it will be interesting to see how the actors portray their characters.
