SSMB 29 (Tentative Title)
Mahesh Babu and S. S. Rajamouli are joining forces for an upcoming grand project, tentatively titled ‘SSMB 29’ (Superstar Mahesh Babu’s 29th film). Some unconfirmed reports suggested that the film is set to be mounted on a massive budget of Rs 1000 crores. However, soon after the news was published, a source overturned the rumors of its budget and told Deccan Chronicle, “These reports are baseless and unfounded since they haven’t finalized the final budget yet. Also, the production house is capable and prepared for big investments as per the demands of the script”.
The film, directed by Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu, is said to be an exciting action-adventure drama. According to a previous report by Pinkvilla, ‘SSMB 29’ is said to be an exciting African Jungle adventure film. The makers are considering partnering with international studios to ensure its global reach. The report also mentioned that the film will incorporate the Indian style and involve a collaborative effort with top technologies worldwide. While it’s still a work in progress on the pre-production front, Pinkvilla reported that SS Rajamouli and the team are looking to start shooting for SSMB 29 in April or May 2024 based on various factors, and everything has to fall in place. M. M. Keeravani will compose the music for the film, and Narayana KL is its producer. ‘SSMB 29’ is also said to be made in two parts. But as of now, everything is still being determined.

On September 19, 2023, SS Rajamouli announced the biopic film Made in India. Reports indicate it is based on Dadasaheb Phalke, often called ‘the father of Indian cinema’. Acclaimed filmmaker Nitin Kakkar will helm the film, and it will be released in six languages – Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Sharing the announcement video, SS Rajamouli wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Rajamouli’s Dream Project Mahabharata
In an interview in May last year, SS Rajamouli expressed his dream of creating a film based on Mahabharata. He said, “If I get to the point of making Mahabharata, it would take me a year just to read the versions of Mahabharata that are available in the country. At present, I can only assume that it would be a 10-part film.”
It is Rajamouli’s long-held dream of making a feature based on the Hindu epic. Adding more, he said, “Every film I make, I feel that I’m learning something to make Mahabharata ultimately. So that’s my dream, and every step is towards that.” During a previous conversation with Ram Charan, Rajamouli expressed that his rendition of Mahabharata would differ from the familiar understanding of the story and its characters. “The characters that I write for my Mahabharata will not be the same as you’ve seen or read before. I will tell Mahabharata in my own way.
