In recent developments, as the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is preparing for its Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 22, cybercriminals are utilizing the excitement by deceptively sending WhatsApp messages to unsuspecting devotees.

As per reports, devotees are receiving messages offering false VIP entry to the Ram Mandir event. It instructs users to download an APK file to secure their VIP access. However, experts think this file may contain spyware or malware, putting data at risk. In the message, recipients are congratulated saying, “You are getting VIP access at Ram Mandir’s inauguration on January 22; download the VIP Pass by installing the application.” However, the Ram Mandir Trust and the government don’t offer VIP invites in exchange for downloading apps.

Valid Invitations Only

It is only possible to enter Ayodhya on January 22 with a valid invitation or if one is engaged in official government duties. Moreover, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has instructed local hotels to cancel advance reservations and prioritize those invited by the trust.

Besides the WhatsApp scam, there are reports of websites which are claiming to offer free prasad from Ayodhya Ram Mandir. There is no confirmation of their authenticity, but these sites require devotees to cover shipping charges. It is recommended that devotees only interact with trusted websites online. This year’s Ram Mandir ceremony is just around the corner, and devotees are being reminded to stay vigilant online to protect themselves from scams that exploit the importance of this event.

On January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the Ram Temple Pratishtha ceremony to install the idol of Ram Lalla at its grand temple. As part of the celebration, the Teerth Kshetra Trust will also distribute special Motichoor laddus made from desi ghee as Prasad to the guests.
