As Apple expands its footprint in India, it announced Wednesday that it will open a new office in Bengaluru. It is located on Minsk Square in the middle of the city and can accommodate 1,200 employees. Besides running on 100 percent renewable energy, the company says the building uses locally sourced materials for its walls and floors, such as stone, wood, fabric, and native plants.

In addition to Bengaluru, the company also has offices in Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Located in the middle of the city, close to the Vidhana Soudha, High Court, and Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, it is easily accessible by public transportation. Moreover, the employees can easily use the metro as the office is close to the Cubbon Park metro station.

In the Bengaluru office, Apple employees will work on a variety of products and services, including software, hardware, services, information systems and technology (IS&T), operations, and customer support. In addition to the lap space, the building has areas for collaboration and wellness. Apple employs about 3,000 people in India, and the new 15-floor building can house 1,200.

Renewable Energy

According to Apple, the new building will run entirely on renewable energy and will achieve a Platinum rating under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Since 2018, all company facilities have been powered by renewable energy, and two years later, the company’s operations have become carbon neutral.

Speaking about the same, an Apple spokesperson said, “Apple is thrilled to expand in India with our new office in the heart of Bengaluru. This dynamic city is already home to so many of our talented teams, including software engineering and hardware technologies, operations, customer support, and more. Like everything we do at Apple, this workspace is created to foster innovation, creativity, and connection. It’s an amazing space for our teams to collaborate,”

As per the lease deed documents, which were shared by Propstack, on January 28, 2022, Apple India Private Limited has leased ground plus 14 floors in the Minsk Square building from Prestige Estates Project Ltd. The total super built-up area is 4.10 lakh sq ft, while the total carpet area is 3.03 lakh sq ft. The lease is for 10 years, starting from November 28, 2022.

Last year in April, the leading mobile phone company launched its first store in Mumbai, India. The store was located in the Bandra Kurla Complex and covered over 20,000 sq. ft. of retail space across three floors. The minimum guaranteed rent for the store was approximately ₹42 lakh per month.
