Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event marked the debut of the highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series and the introduction of the Galaxy AI. Among the announcements, the event also featured a preview of the upcoming Galaxy Ring. While previous reports hinted at the company’s venture into the smart ring market, there was no official confirmation regarding its unveiling during the S24 series Unpacked event. However, Samsung surprisingly concluded the event by giving a glimpse of the Galaxy Ring’s design, hinting that its official launch is expected later this year.

The Galaxy Ring’s teaser suggests that it could be a black-colored smart ring with a smooth finish. On the underside, the device features some unknown sensors, probably for tracking the health and fitness of the wearer.

Unfortunately, the company did not reveal any information on the specifications of the device. However, Samsung claimed that the Galaxy Ring is “a powerful and accessible health and wellness device, here to change the shape of future health like only Samsung can.”

Most other smart rings mainly serve as fitness trackers, monitoring steps, heart rate, calories, and sleep patterns, with some models even tracking advanced metrics like blood oxygen and stress levels. Smart rings can also show a discreet notification system through vibrations or LED lights for calls, messages, and so on. It can also support contactless payments via NFC or be used as a remote control for music and cameras, emergency alerts, and more.

The Galaxy Ring may offer some of these features as well as prompt users to seek medical devices based on health data. Reports have claimed that it may also have sensors for electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG).

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 in July or August this year. It is likely that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Ring, along with its price and availability, alongside the next-generation foldables.
