12.9-inch iPad Air CAD renders have emerged in a new report by 91mobiles. The said iPad will arrive as a successor to the iPad Air (2022), which was announced in March 2022. The said model was made available with a 10.9-inch display. The report not only reveals the new iPad Air model will have a larger display, but it also reveals what to expect from its design.

As per the report, the CAD renders belong to the 12.9-inch display variant of the iPad Air. As of this writing, there is no clarity on whether it will also come in a smaller screen size option. The render shows that the device will have a slim design and have a Touch ID sensor on the top.

The new iPad Air will also have a side switch and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. Notably, it will be the first iPad Air model to feature a Type-C port. On the back, the device will be equipped with a capsule-shaped camera module, which will house a single camera and an LED flash.

The redesigned camera module looks similar to the camera unit available on the iPhone X-series. The images show that the device is fitted with two speakers on the top and two speakers on the bottom. The bottom side of the device will have a pogo pin connector for attaching a keyboard.

As far as specs are concerned, the rumour mill is yet to reveal concrete details about it. The device may likely ship with Apple’s M2 chip. While the iPad Pro models have a mini-LED display, it is speculated that the upcoming iPad Air will have an LCD panel. It is likely that the device will lack high-end features like ProMotion and LiDAR scanners, which are available on the Pro variant.

The production of the 12.9-inch iPad Air is expected to begin this quarter. This indicates that the company could be planning to announce it in March this year.
