Nothing Phone (2a)’s launch officially confirmed, here’s what known so far

Nothing Phone (2a) moniker has not been officially confirmed. In 2022, the Nothing Phone (1), featuring the Snapdragon 778Gc chip, went official as the company’s first smartphone. Last year, the brand launched the Nothing Phone (2), equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which was made official.

Now, the brand is gearing up to launch its next phone, the Nothing Phone (2a). Unlike the predecessor models, the new phone is said to be a mid-range offering. In the press release, the company revealed that it will inherit some of the popular features from Phone (2). The device, codenamed Aerodactyl, will also feature a Glyph Interface like the existing Nothing phones. Here is a look at what the rumour mill has leaked about the Phone (2a) so far.

According to reports, the Nothing Phone (2a) will be equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and possibly a high refresh rate. For security, the device may feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and it may come preinstalled with Nothing OS 2.5-based Android 14.

The device is likely to feature the Dimensity 7200 chipset and house a 4,920mAh battery with 45W charging. It may also feature a 32-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 50-megapixel dual-camera system.

A recent leak by tipster Roland Quandt revealed that the device will be offered in two variants: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. The leak also revealed that the device will have a sub-€400 (~Rs 36,000) price for the base model in Europe. There is no word on the price of the device for the Indian market.

Nothing is also said to be working on new earbuds and a watch. It is likely that these devices may go official with the Phone (2a). According to reports, Nothing may unveil the Phone (2a) during the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) tech exhibition, scheduled to take place by the end of February.
