Fans can watch Heeramandi on Netflix this year. While the makers have released the motion poster of the show, the release date has not been shared yet. Announcing the cast with the poster, Netflix took to social media accounts and said, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s grandeur combined with their talent and elegance. Heeramandi: Cast and Crew

Directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Heeramandi includes eminent names from Bollywood like Sonkashi Sinha, Richa Chaddha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Maneesha Koirala, Fardeen Khan, and many others. The story of the show has been written jointly by Moin Beg, Mitkshara Kumar, Snehil Mehra, and Vibhu Puri. More details about the crew and music will be released soon.

Heeramandi: Teaser and Premise

Presented as a period drama revolving around romance, Heeramandi is about the “Life story of three generations of courtesans in Heera mandi, a dazzling district, during pre-independent India.” The official announcement said, “Another time, another era, another magical world created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali that we can’t wait to be a part of. Here is a glimpse into the beautiful world of #Heeramandi Coming soon!”

The stalwart also spoke about the context, filmmaking process and more, through an event. The message said, “Celebrating two stalwarts of creativity: Ted Sarandos (Co – CEO of Netflix) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali the most prolific filmmaker in India, in conversation about the art of riveting storytelling and the creation of class-apart entertainment.”

Quoting Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the release report, Firstpost mentioned, “Creative freedom and experimenting with new concepts are crucial to make lasting, memorable stories that transport audiences to new worlds. Netflix has been at the forefront of partnering with storytellers in creating breakthrough, iconic stories that have stood the test of time.”

The renowned women in the show have undergone rigorous training. Talking about her kathak practice, actress Richa Chaddha, in a recently published media statement said, “I trained in Kathak under Pt Abhay Shankar Mishra for ten years as a child. Then life happened and my love for dance got left behind. I was afraid I lost my touch as like any art form, it depends on practice. But it kind of felt like swimming and I think I can float without a life jacket. I think dance has the potential to make a person more connected, grounded, confident and definitely happier. Movement is medicine. This year I hope to complete my degree in the dance form under the aegis of my guru Pt. Rajendra Chaturvedi.”
