  • It is based on OpenAI’s GPT 3.5 model
  • It is available for Snapchat+ subscribers now

Snapchat has launched its own AI chatbot based on GPT: Snapchat My AI.

Snapchat My AI will initially be only available for subscribers of Snapchat’s premium subscription, Snapchat+. It is available for a price of $3.99/month. It is exclusively available for premium subscribers as an experimental feature, but the chatbot will be available for free users soon.

Starting today, my AI chatbot will be pinned to the chat tab in Snapchat for paying subscribers.

Snapchat had this to say about the launch of My AI chatbot in a blog post, “My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed pal. Make My AI your own by giving it a name and customizing the wallpaper for your Chat.”

Snapchat also mentioned the drawbacks of its AI chatbot, “As with all AI-powered chatbots, My AI is prone to hallucination and can be tricked into saying just about anything. Please be aware of its many deficiencies and sorry in advance! “

Snapchat has advised its users not to share any secrets with My AI, and it has also asked its users not to rely on the chatbot for advice. Snapchat says My AI is designed to “avoid biased, incorrect, harmful or misleading information,” but warns mistakes may occur. You can press and hold on to any of the messages to provide feedback and your experience with My AI chatbot.

Snapchat wants its AI chatbot to feel like you’re chatting with yet another contact in your Snapchat. It doesn’t have a separate UI, so it uses a chat profile that looks like any other normal Snapchat contact. It even has its own Bitmoji, like anyone else. You chat with the chatbot from the pinned chat, and you can ask the chatbot anything you’d like, and it will answer.

The Verge reports that the chatbot is stripped of functionality that has gotten ChatGPT banned in some schools, as it politely declined requests for writing academic essays. Snapchat My AI strictly follows Snapchat’s terms of service and is a more strict guideline than ChatGPT. That is the main difference between ChatGPT and Snapchat My AI.
