Highlights
  • Apple’s new range of iPhones could debut in September
  • Rumours have hinted at some big changes coming to the iPhone 15 series
  • The iPhone 15 will also include a USB-C port for the first time in the iPhone series

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 15 series in September, comprising two base models and their Pro siblings. A new leak is now shedding light on the company’s plans for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the top-end variant in the lineup.

According to noted tipster Ice Universe, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could utilise Sony’s IMX903 sensor, with a size of 1/1.4 inches. However, the camera would still be a 48-megapixel unit, with most of the upgrades happening under the hood. This would make it the largest sensor used on an iPhone in its long history.

Rumours have also talked about Apple possibly including a periscope camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, unlocking 6x zoom on the flagship. As MySmartPrice points out, the iPhone 14 Pro Max can only manage 3x optical zoom.

There’s still some debate over what Apple will decide to call the iPhone 14 Pro Max successor. We’ve come across reports saying it would debut as the iPhone 15 Ultra, but it could just as likely launch as the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Nevertheless, we have obtained a treasure trove of information on this year’s big iPhone refresh.

Dynamic Island could be available across all iPhones this year

While the Dynamic Island feature was reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple will reportedly make it available across all iPhone models, including the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. Additionally, solid-state and haptic buttons are also rumoured to be present on the new iPhones, replacing the traditional power and volume keys.

Adding a USB-C port will also be big for Apple this year, though it could come with some big caveats. Regardless of whether or not these rumours materialise, the iPhone 15 series is shaping up to be a hotly anticipated phone lineup. Unfortunately, customers may have to shell out more than usual for the new iPhones, per a recent report.
