Translating as a story of a liar and a sly person, the film, boasting of a renowned cast, has been one of the highly anticipated releases of 2023. Directed by Luv Ranjan, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is written by Ranjan and Rahul Mody. Produced by Luv Films and T-Series Films, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles along with names like Dimple Kapadia and Boney Kapoor. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar will also mark Boney’s debut as an actor.

The cinematography of the film has been done by Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran, while Akiv Ali has edited the film along with Chetan M. Solanki. Eminent music director Pritam has given the music for the film, which will be distributed by Yash Raj Films.

Makers of the film released the teaser announcing the title. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar hit the theatres on March 8, 2023. The digital rights of the film have already been bagged by an OTT giant.

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar: Teaser and Plot

The synopsis of Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar is not revealed by the makers. However, several fans and sources have tried to decode the mystery behind the same. A report published in DesiMartini mentioned, “Well, most of the fans are concluding that the film is based on a ‘fake’ love story that is concocted by Shraddha Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor’s characters for the reason that will get to know in the movie. A Reddit user also guessed the movie’s plot wherein Ranbir is a therapist and Shraddha is a waitress, and the two go on to meet in Spain. The duo then pretends to be in love to weave a false story in front of their families in Delhi. The usage of Farzi Café translates to fake, and the mentioning of the word ‘Nautanki’ (drama) by Shraddha in her caption is further making fans confirm that the plot is indeed about the lead pair getting into a fake love story.”

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar: Production Issues

The production schedule of Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar began in January 2021, and the filming was completed in mid-2022.  The film has been shot in several locations in India, Spain, and Mauritius. The team had to face several challenges owing to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, an unfortunate incident on the sets of the film in Mumbai claimed the life of a crew member. While an introduction song was being shot, a fire broke out in Mumbai’s Chitrakoot Grounds, eventually stalling the production, where a crew passed away, and a member from the lighting department, Manish Devashi, was injured.
