The Nikon Z8 has a 45MP stacked sensor, which we have already seen in the Z9. It comes with a 120 fps burst mode, an exclusively electronic shutter, and intelligent AF built on deep learning. In terms of video capabilities, the Z8 supports 8K video for up to 60 fps and 4K video for up to 120 fps.

Regarding subject tracking, the newer Z8 surpasses the flagship as it comes with dedicated aircraft tracking, which is not available in the Z9. It also packs all existing tracking modes like people, cats/dogs/birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and trains.

The camera draws power from the Expeed 7 image processor, which allows it to shoot RAW photos at 20fps for over 1,000 frames. Moreover, the camera comes with 493 autofocus points and 5-axis image stabilization. It lacks the integrated vertical grip like the Z9. As a result, it weighs only 910 grams.
