Special Ops: Lioness OTT Release Date: Cast, Episodes, Trailer, Reviews, and More About the Spy Thriller Series

The American spy thriller web series Special Ops: Lioness was revealed as a part of the Paramount+ programming slate announcement in September 2020. Initially, it was titled Lioness; later, it was changed to Special Ops: Lioness. The eight-episode series is made under the banners of Blossom Films, Bosque Ranch Productions, 101 Studios, and MTV Entertainment Studios. Special Ops: Lioness has now started streaming on Paramount+. The first two episodes premiered on OTT on July 23, 2023. The remaining six episodes will air every Sunday from July 30 through September 3. 

Considering the collaboration between Paramount Global and Reliance Viacom 18, Paramount+ content will be available on JioCinema soon. Indian viewers can watch Special Ops: Lioness on JioCinema. However, the show’s subcontinent streaming date is yet to be confirmed. As soon as an official announcement regarding the same is made, we shall be updating the OTT release date for India.

The filming of Special Ops: Lioness commenced in January 2023 in Mallorca. Zoe Saldaña, apart from starring in the series, is also its executive producer. The series draws inspiration from an actual US Military programme.

Dave Annable, Morgan Freeman, Jill Wagner, James Jordan, LaMonica Garrett, Austin Hébert, Stephanie Nur, Jonah Wharton, and Hannah Love are the main cast of Special Ops: Lioness, alongside Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, and Nicole Kidman. The recurring and guest cast members include Michael Kelly, Martin Donovan, Ray Corasani, Sam Asghari, Adam Budron, and Carla Mansour. John Hillcoat is the director, and Taylor Sheridan is the writer of the first two episodes. Jill Wagner, Taylor Sheridan,  David Hutkin, David Glasser, Bob Yari, Nicole Kidman, Zoe Saldaña, and Geyer Kosinski are its executive producers.

Special Ops Lioness Storyline

As the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror, Joe (Zoe Saldaña) must manage her personal and professional life. To prevent the next 9/11, the CIA recruits Joe to work undercover with Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira), an aggressive Marine Raider, as part of the Lioness Programme, overseen by Kaitlyn Meade (Nicole Kidman) and Byron Westfield (Michael Kelly).

Special Ops Lioness Reviews and IMDb Rating 

Special Ops: Lioness has received mixed reviews from critics. According to The Guardian Special Ops: Lioness is some brilliantly executed nonsense! This is nothing but a compliment, by the way. It is solid and action-packed. However, the Independent has a different take. According to them, given the pedigree of talent before and behind the camera, Lioness fails to roar. 1,264 IMDb users have given Special Ops: Lioness a rating of 7.5/10.
