Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja, professionally known as Dhanush, the producer, actor, director, playback singer, and lyricist works predominantly in Tamil cinema. In a career spanning over twenty years, he has appeared in 46 films as an actor. His honours include four National Film Awards (two as an actor and two as a producer), fourteen SIIMA Awards, seven Filmfare Awards South, and a Filmfare Award. He has won praise for his many on-screen roles, and his films have been commercially successful.

For Aadukalam (2011) and Asuran (2019), he has won the National Film Award for Best Actor. He has worked in Tamil, Hindi, English and Telugu movies. With the English-language French movie The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, the actor made his 1st international film appearance. His recent release was the period action drama Vaathi. Dhanush’s forthcoming films slate in 2023-2024 looks promising.

Captain Miller 

Captain Miller, the forthcoming action-adventure movie, is directed and written by Arun Matheswaran. Late in April 2022, Arun Matheswaran stated that the film was not based on the actual LTTE rebel Captain Miller in a media interview. On Dhanush’s birthday this year, the makers released the teaser of Captain Miller, and it packs a solid punch. According to reports, the film is set in the 1930s. Dhanush essays the title character. John Miller, played by Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan (1998), left an impression on the director. Thus, he gave the film the name Captain Miller.

D50 (working title)

Dhanush’s 50th film as the lead is in the works and is tentatively titled D50. Apart from essaying the male protagonist, Dhanush is also the writer and director of the gangster drama film. A. R. Rahman is its music composer. The movie’s cast includes Nithya Menen, Sundeep Kishan, S. J. Suryah, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Anikha Surendran. The filming of D50 has begun.

A sequel of the 2010 Kollywood action adventure film Aayirathil Oruvan has been announced. On January 1, 2021, Selvaraghavan unveiled the first-look poster for Aayirathil Oruvan’s sequel, confirming Dhanush’s presence. Through his Twitter account, Dhanush also shared about the project. The actor’s post reads, “A magnum opus !! The pre-production alone will take us a year. But A dream film from the master @selvaraghavan! The wait will be long. But we will do our best to make it all worth it. AO2 ..The Prince returns in 2024.” Aayirathil Oruvan 2 is expected to be released theatrically in 2024.
